How to use (NOT) a lawn mower

There are lawn mower manuals. There are safety instructions. And then there is Oli.

What starts as a perfectly normal day with a lawn mower and some grass to cut quickly turns into something that looks less like garden maintenance and more like a small experiment in physics.

It starts harmlessly enough

The machine is there. The grass is there. Oli is there. What could possibly go wrong?

For the first few moments, the plan seems simple: mow the grass, get the job done and move on. But the terrain clearly has other ideas. The mower starts getting into positions that no lawn mower brochure has ever proudly featured on page one.

When mowing becomes a balancing act

Before long, the job turns into a battle between traction, gravity and determination. The mower gets more and more adventurous, the angles become increasingly questionable, and Oli responds in the only logical way: by continuing.

At this point, we are no longer entirely sure whether he is mowing the lawn, testing the limits of the machine or trying to prove that a lawn mower can also be a mountain goat.

Spoiler: lawn mowers are very good at mowing lawns. Their climbing career has more limited potential.

Giving up was apparently not an option

The funniest part is not even the mower. It is the absolute commitment to the mission. Where most people might stop, reconsider the route and choose a slightly less dramatic approach, Oli keeps working the problem.

One more attempt. A little more steering. A different angle. Surely gravity will eventually understand what we are trying to achieve here.

Gravity, however, remains unimpressed.

So, how should you use a lawn mower?

Probably not like this.

For the record: this video is entertainment, not a tutorial. Use your garden machinery according to the manufacturer’s instructions, keep the machine stable, choose terrain that is suitable for it and avoid creative experiments with steep slopes. Four wheels on the ground is generally a very good starting point.

But this is exactly why we have Oli Unfiltered. Not every moment in the workshop, garden or field needs to become a serious technical lesson. Sometimes a job simply takes an unexpected turn — and luckily somebody had a camera ready.

The conclusion

Did the grass get cut? More or less.

Did the lawn mower experience things it probably did not expect that morning? Absolutely.

And did Oli stop because things were getting a little ridiculous? Of course not.
